Doctors Biography

Dr. Kumar was 16 years old when tragedy struck his family growing up in India. His father passed away of cardiac issues and the burden of supporting the family fell on his sister and her husband. Just when he thought that he had recovered from the tragic loss, tragedy struck again with a diagnosis of a rare form of cancer in his Brother in law.

Dr. Kumar watched him deal with the physicians and his cancer treatments and the after effects, the emotional impact on the family and finally lost him over a year. He knew that there had to be a better way. With very little resources and having no clue as to how he would achieve it, he resolved to dedicate his life towards helping cancer patients and their families.

Against all odds, this emotional impact propelled him through Medical school, immigrating to the United States and working through the stringent training as a Radiation Oncologist which he completed in 1994. Finding his way to Florida, his unique experience and the underlying passion compelled him to start an Independent practice, Big Lake Cancer Center, in Okeechobee, Port Saint Lucie and Indian River Counties. The secret to his success has been his unique approach to patients and their families, knowing that they deserve the best and above all, a human touch with a heart. He continues to make a positive impact on the community that he has called home for over 20 years.
